I teach in the Exercise Physiology department at UNSW. I have been an exercise science practitioner for 17 years, with a wide-ranging background covering exercise prescription and delivery, academic teaching and research roles, cardiac physiology, athlete conditioning, athlete talent identification and corporate health.I completed my PhD at UNSW in 2014 - this research focussed on chronic fatigue syndrome, specifically the physiological issues related to the disorder.
My current research focusses on exercise physiology, specifically exercise 'dose-response' in healthy and chronic illness populations. This means analysing the effect of exercise training (e.g. moderate-intensity continuous exercise; high-intensity intervals exercise) on health and fitness (e.g. aerobic fitness; body composition; cardiovascular function). We are currently conducting training studies involving overweight or obese individuals and also in patients with coronary artery disease.
