Many of our team members are also associate lecturers, drawing on their expertise in clinical practice as well as their continuing involvement in research to train tomorrow’s health professionals. Most importantly - as a unified team of practitioners – we host weekly briefs presenting case studies and research updates as part of our commitment to continuing our professional development, resulting in the best standards of care for our patients.

As the director of the Lifestyle Clinic, Chris Tzar is an accredited exercise physiologist with extensive experience in providing exercise therapy and lifestyle programs for people with conditions including cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, musculoskeletal disorders and HIV+/AIDS. A leading advocate for physical activity and lifestyle strategies to prevent or manage chronic disease, Chris has been involved in numerous federal and state health initiatives, is a fellow and current director of Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) and serves on the Executive Committee of the NSW Cancer Survivors Centre.

Kelly is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and oversees a large portfolio of clients with health and medical issues. She brings a wealth of experience in exercise therapy ranging from post-operative hip and knee replacements, spinal surgery, Parkinson’s disease, arthritis, falls prevention, diabetes and cardiac and respiratory rehabilitation programs. Kelly is also the coordinator for the MediKids and Lifestyle Plus programs, and is continually praised by clients for her motivation and enthusiasm to help people improve their quality of life.

 

Amanda Burdettimage - Team

Strength Clinic Coordinator

Amanda is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and coordinates our Strength Clinic program. Amanda has a broad range of experience working with veterans, injured workers, elderly and children alike, with wide and varying conditions. She has a great appreciation for the psychological and social issues which are strongly related to a person’s physical health. Amanda has a passion for helping people achieve a better quality of life by applying exercise as therapy and hopes to instil the same values in our Exercise Physiology graduates.

 

Dr John Boothimage - Team

John is an accredited Exercise Physiologist and one of Australia’s leading experts in musculoskeletal rehabilitation and chronic pain management. His research is published in numerous journals including The Spine Journal, Orthopaedics Today and The British Journal of Sports Medicine. John is also a senior lecturer at UNSW Medicine and conducts workshops nationwide updating and training exercise physiologists on the latest evidence-based treatment techniques for back, neck, shoulder and knee injury and pre- and post- operative rehabilitation. His knowledge and expertise gathered from over 20 years of treating patients has gained John immense respect from his professional peers and colleagues.
 

Alex Budlevskis

Alex brings a wide range of experience in the field of chronic disease and pain management. After graduating as an exercise physiologist in 2009, he founded a community health service for the Leichhardt Municipality, and another more recently for the Aboriginal Medical Service (AMS) in Redfern. As well as a teaching role in the Exercise Physiology program at UNSW since 2010, Alex has presented at academic conferences on the role of exercise and health behaviour change counselling in the treatment of chronic pain. Alex is most passionate about mind-body medicine, and always endeavours to treat the whole person rather than just their illness or injury.
