SoMS Honours

Overview

The School of Medical Sciences (SoMS) Honours is one of the premier science Honours courses at UNSW, providing undergraduate students with an excellent introduction to medical scientific research from disciplines taught within SoMS. Honours projects are offered through SoMS laboratories in addition to affiliated research institutes and hospitals and are themed around Cell Development and Biology, Immunology, Inflammation, Clinical, Cancer Drug Discovery, Cancer Mechanisms, Metabolism, Medical Education, Neuroscience and Systems Physiology.

SoMS Honours courses are offered either full-time (SOMS4001) or part-time (SOMS4002). A feature of the SoMS Honours courses is the ‘state-of-art’ Research Skills seminar series and Research Skills workshops in conjunction with SoMS Researchers and their labs, and the UNSW Analytical Centres.

The diverse areas of research coupled with student support and development, through the SoMS Honours mentoring program, make this an attractive start to pursuing a career in medical research.
