Disciplines

The School of Medical Sciences is a young school, formed in 2001 following the amalgamation of the previous Schools of Anatomy, Physiology & Pharmacology and Pathology. The close integration of these disciplines within the School has resulted in exciting learning opportunities for our students, as well as  innovative cross-disciplinary research collaborations for our staff.

At the same time, the importance of these separate disciplines is reflected in the departmental structure of the school. That structure draws on the rich heritage of research and teaching excellence in each of the former Schools, and remains a focal point  for the teaching and professional activity for our staff and students.
