First class honours
UNSW has had a strong showing in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Scientia Professor Colin Chesterman, who heads the Centre for Vascular Research in the School of Medical Sciences, has been made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for his services to medical research.
Professors Les White and Bryanne Barnett and have each been made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM).
Professor White, from the School of Women’s and Children's Health has been acknowledged for his contribution to pediatrics, medical administration and child and adolescent cancer support. Professor Barnett, a conjoint academic at the South Western Sydney Clinical School, was given the nod for services to psychiatry and the community.
Professor Michael Barton, who holds the Chair of Radiation Oncology, based at Liverpool Hospital, has been awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for services to medicine.
