Inflammatory Diseases Research Unit (IDRU)

The Inflammatory Diseases Research Unit (IDRU) is a cross-disciplinary collaborative research group, based in the School of Medical Sciences. The overall scientific goal of the IDRU is to define the pathophysiology of inflammation in human disease, and to provide improved strategies for prevention and treatment of inflammatory diseases. Studies directed towards achieving this are undertaken using a variety of cellular, molecular and proteomic techniques, and focus on asthma, inflammatory bowel disease, arthritis, uveitis, atherosclerosis, viral infections and bone and biomaterials. There is an emphasis on parallel studies in human clinical samples and in animal models of disease.
