UNSW Goldstar Awards
School of Medical Sciences researchers have been awarded five UNSW Goldstar awards announced by the Vice-Chancellor.
UNSW Goldstar Awards, worth $30,000 each, are made for highly ranked ARC and NHMRC applications that just missed out on funding. The awards are given on the condition that recipients reapply to either ARC or NHMRC in the very next round.
The successful projects are:
Dr Karen Gibson; Emeritus Professor Eugenie Lumbers: Effects of maternal renal insufficiency on the kidneys, blood pressure and renin angiotensin system of the offspring
Associate Professor Nick Hawkins; Associate Professor Robyn Ward: CpG island methylation in microsatellite stable colorectal cancers : epigenetics or epiphenomenon?
Professor Michael Hill; Associate Professor A Jenkins: Microvascular Dysfunction Induced Via Interactions With Glyco-oxidized Proteins.
Professor Andrew Lloyd; Dr R French; Mr Charles Harvey; Dr Hernan Carol; Professor Rakesh Kumar; Associate Professor Michael Grimm: The trafficking and functional activity of effector and regulatory T cells in the HCV infected liver
Professor Phil Waite; Dr Pascal Carrive; Professor A Mackay-Sim: Improving cardiovascular function after spinal cord injury
