UNSW researcher makes top ten
The work of a UNSW researcher has been highlighted by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), as part of a special publication, 10 of the best.

Professor Carolyn Geczy from the School of Medical Sciences, is one of ten researchers profiled in the publication, which showcases successful NHMRC-funded research.
Professor Geczy's work focuses on basic mechanisms of inflammation, in particular the role of S100 proteins in inflammatory disorders such as asthma and allergy, rheumatoid arthritis, infection and inflammatory bowel disease.
A diagnostic test for the S100 proteins, indicating disease severity, is under development.
"Development of new reagents for diagnosis, and hopefully for therapy, for international distribution would bring recognition to Australian research and much needed relief to asthma and allergy sufferers," said Professor Geczy.
"It's great to be part of this collaboration, which shows the breadth of work being undertaken by Australian medical researchers and underscores the importance of what the Australian medical research community is doing."
The Health Minister, Tony Abbot, launched the booklet at a ceremony at the Baker Institute in Melbourne this week. For further information go to the NHMRC website
