Summer Research Award

2009/2010 Summer Research Award

Summer Research Awards to the value of $2,000 each are available to undergraduate students in the School of Medical Sciences.

One award will be considered for each of the following projects:(* indicates already allocated)

Students are expected to undertake 4-8 weeks of research in their chosen area during November 2009 - February 2010, negotiated with their supervisor.

Selection will be based on project supervisor’s support and academic merit; noting that a WAM of >65 is a prerequisite for potential acceptance into the program.

For 2010-2011 Summer Research Awards, applications will only be accepted from students completing 1st or 2nd year (not those completing 3rd year or Honours), and be available to students once only (ie. not available in subsequent years), with supervisors being required to be physically located in SOMS. Students completing 3rd year are encouraged to undertake positions in laboratories over the Summer period, but this will be done on a voluntary (unpaid) basis.

To apply for a summer research award, a student must provide:
    • A copy of their academic transcript
    • A letter of acceptance from the proposed supervisor

Please submit your application to Marie Kwok, Room MG14, Wallace Wurth Building by Friday 16th October, 2009.
