OHS
The School of Medical Sciences, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Committee was first formed in December 2001 and established a committee constitution in April 2005.
Aim
To facilitate a safe work environment by developing and documenting OHS programs to coordinate training of staff and students and by overseeing the implementation of OHS procedures and policies in the School of Medical Sciences.
Activities
The following activities come within the OHS committee's jurisdiction:
- Make recommended actions regarding safe work systems, including safe practice, procedures, working environments and equipment.
- Make recommendations regarding safety and health education and training.
- Assisting with the promotion of health and safety throughout the workplace.
Committee Members
The committee consists of twelve members: ten employee representatives (including the School OHS Coordinator), one employer representative and one postgraduate representative.
Each member of the OHS committee has been allocated various areas of responsibility. Please initially contact either the responsible member or Michelle Price concerning OHS issues.
