2009 Teachers Professional Development Program
Exploring Further Frontiers in Senior Biology
BiOur upcoming Teachers Professional Development Program for senior Biology teachers will be held on Friday 3rd July 2009. The program consists of a wide range of lectures and workshops designed to provide teachers with the opportunity to further their skills and understanding in key areas of the senior Biology syllabus.
Since 2001 the museum has held the very successful Professional Development Course for teachers presented by staff experts from the Department of Pathology, UNSW. These programs attract over 100 science teachers each year from NSW regional and metropolitan centres as well as Queensland. Demand for these programs continues to be high, reflecting the interest by teachers in updating and expanding their subject knowledge and skills. This translates to greater enrichment and innovation for their classroom teaching and the learning experiences of their students.
Based on feedback from previous years we have assembled a fascinating range of sessions outlining our current understanding and cutting-edge research in areas such as Proteomics, Plant Biotechnology, Macroparasites and many more!
The 2009 event will also feature a large number of exhibitors and trade displays enabling you to sample the very latest educational texts and resources!
Past feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and comments like … “there should be two per year” and “very informative especially on difficult areas of the HSC syllabus”… express the high regard in which teachers hold these experiences and opportunities for greater learning. Such events reflect very positively on those who have influence on decisions of tertiary students of the future.
If you have any further questions about the program please contact us on 9385 1522 or diseasemuseum@unsw.edu.au

The Museum of Human Disease is packing its bags and going on tour! In an exciting new initiative for 2009 the Museum is expanding the reach of its outreach program to rural and regional areas of NSW through temporary exhibitions for school audiences and public visitors. By providing greater access to the pathology specimens, educational resources and the museums skilled staff and volunteers we hope to inspire interest and enable a greater understanding of personal and public health issues.
