About the HMU

The Histology & Microscopy Unit (HMU) is a research service laboratory within the School of Medical Sciences. The Unit provides research staff and postgraduate students in the School of Medical Sciences (SoMS) and UNSW schools with a wide range of histology and microscopy laboratory services.

Histology & Microscopy Unit provides the following services for human and animal tissues:

The function of the Histology and Microscopy Unit is to deliver a high standard of service in histological techniques and research methods. The Unit provides access to the latest equipment, producing fast and accurate results for our clients.

News and Updates

As of 30th January 2012, HMU operating hours will be 8:30 am - 6:00pm.
The Olympus + SPOT Camera is now located on level 5. If you wish to use the microscope, please book online using the Online HMU Booking System.
All training for microscopes will only be available on Wednesdays 9:00am -12:00pm. Staff and students requiring training should contact Susan Wan (z.wan@unsw.edu.au) for a booking time.
