History

The Clinical Anatomy and Surgical Skills Unit (CASSU) opened in December 2002. This facility provides practical experience for surgeons wishing to improve or update their skills under operating theatre conditions.

Over the last few years advancing technologies have changed the face of surgery. The CASSU seeks to keep surgeons on the cutting edge of these technological advances and position them to best take advantage of future changes and developments in skills and techniques in their field of specialisation.

Through workshops and programs for surgeons at all stages of their careers, the CASSU aids in pioneering new methods of teaching that convey surgical knowledge and skills in the most effective way possible. Less experienced surgeons are able to develop their skills and gain the experience necessary to build to a higher level while senior surgeons have the opportunity to re-skill or upgrade their existing expertise.
