Dear Colleagues

We have great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 9th International Symposium on Resistance Arteries, which has been confirmed to take place at Hamilton Island, Australia, February 17th-21st, 2008.

The venue Hamilton Island is located amongst the 74 Whitsunday Islands of the South Central Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, and is easily accessible for International and Interstate participants, with direct travel connections from International arrivals to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Cairns; with local flights via Qantas and Virgin Blue.
Indeed, the date and location is particularly convenient for visitors from the Northern Hemisphere, who may want a break from the Northern Winter in a tropical paradise.

If traveling from outside Australia, the most cost-effective travel option is to book a flight to an Australian internal hub (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide or Cairns) and to then book a flight via the local website of Qantas or Virgin Blue, which have direct links to Hamilton Island from these cities.

The program will include state-of-the-art lectures to be given by invited speakers on various topics of current interest including, vascular biology of the endothelium and of the smooth muscle, ionic control of vascular tone, vascular remodeling, intercellular communication, reactive oxygen species, inflammation hypertension and diabetes. In addition we will also hold workshops on aspects relating to methodology and debates on contentious issues in resistance artery biology. Poster sessions will be held to enable participation by all registrants.

Efforts will be made to provide travel grants for both early career researchers and those scientists who may be coming from developing countries. Please mark these dates in your calendar.
